A Premier After School Program
I Can Excel (ICE) is FSH’s premiere after-school program that helps girls ages 6-18 improve academically, encourages active lifestyles, and strengthens leadership skills. At the start of every season, each skater makes a commitment to attend 9-15 hours between 3 and 5 days per week where they actively participate in on-ice instruction, off-ice conditioning and educational programming with the support of more than 50 tutors, teachers, social workers, counselors and skating coaches. Students receive team warm-up jackets and use of skating equipment for the season. All students perform in the end of season Ice Show and Awards Ceremony. Once a targeted skating level is reached, students may audition for a spot on one of our synchronized skating teams.
Our academic programming focuses on rigorous small group and individual tutoring to improve basic reading, writing and math competencies. We also introduce STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), communications and Leadership and self advocacy to girls in a way that supplements what they are learning in school and builds upon it. Individualized guidance and support with high school admissions and college access is offered to students year-round.
