Career Week Recap February 2024!

๐ป๐๐๐๐ ๐๐, our students attended a MoHo Dance workshop called โMy Body, My Body, My Body!โ They participated in a body positivity activity to Beyoncรฉ’s โIโm a Divaโ as well as a โPerfect Canvasโ activity to teach them about the subjectiveness of beauty and to break down the stigmas around body types and weight! MoHo Dance is the first and only company teaching mental wellness through movement in the creative arts!
In the afternoon, FSH Alum, Ava, led the students through an interactive maze teaching them how to problem-solve using different perspectives. The goal was to write detailed descriptions of multiple ways to โescape the mazeโ. They also got a chance to create their gaming characters! Along with problem-solving, our students got the chance to practice their public speaking through group sharing, as well as leadership and team building through group collaborations. Thereโs never just one way to solve a problem!
๐พ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐, we kicked off the morning at Barnard College! The students were able to tour the campus and design their very own playgrounds! In the afternoon, MSK came to our Harlem offices to collaborate with our girls on their Breast Cancer Awareness proposals! We had many ideas from musicals, paintings, tabling, etc!
๐ป๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐, our students took a trip to the NHL headquarters. This unique experience provided our students with an exclusive glimpse into the inner workings of one of the most renowned sports organizations in the world. Upon arrival, students were warmly welcomed and guided on a comprehensive tour of the NHL headquarters, where they marveled at the stunning facilities and gained insights into the daily operations of the league. Throughout the visit, students had the invaluable opportunity to engage with staff members from across the league, learning about their roles and responsibilities within the organization. From marketing to content production, students were able to explore diverse career paths within the sports industry firsthand. One of the highlights of the visit was a visit to the NHL’s content production studios!
In the afternoon,ย Theย Estรฉe Lauderย Companiesโย Womenโs Leadership Networkย employee resource groupย invited our girls to their headquarters for a presentation on the various careersย availableย in the beauty industry,ย from marketing to product creation! Did you know you could be aย cosmeticย scientist? Our students became scientists when theyย participated hands-on in a lipgloss-making workshop. Such a cool experience!
