Job Title: Tutor
Reports to: Director of Education


FSH is a thriving youth development organization – the first to combine the power of education with the grace and discipline of figure skating to help girls transform their lives and grow in confidence, leadership and academic achievement. Our award-winning afterschool and summer programs provide girls ages 6 to 18 from low income communities with access to innovative education and health and wellness services that help them reach their fullest potential. Our vision is for every student, regardless of socio-economic background, to acquire the foundational academic, social and leadership skills to achieve her dreams. Headquartered in Harlem, we have launched our first satellite chapter in Detroit – Figure Skating in Detroit.

Job Description:

As part of the ICE: I Can Excel academic team, tutors will work under the supervision of the Director of Education. Tutors will meet with students weekly to help them reach and maintain a B average and to support them in all of their academic goals.

Review academic assessments
Implement an individual academic plan for each student in a tutoring group (1:4 ratio)
Supervise homework and reinforce concepts learned in school (1:10 ratio)
Track student progress by keeping detailed records, communicating with parents, and preparing written progress reports
Perform any related duties or special projects as directed by supervisor

Strong desire to work in academic youth development
Strong content knowledge in a variety of subjects
Ability to tutor elementary, middle school and/or high school students preferred
Ability to commit to working throughout the season (October – April)
High proficiency in writing and mathematics
Attention to detail, superb organization skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
DOE fingerprint preferred

Days: Monday –Friday 3:30-6:30pm, Saturday 9:45:12:00pm
