Headquartered in Harlem, we have launched our first satellite chapter in Detroit – Figure Skating in Detroit

Job Description:

As part of the ICE: I Can Excel team, the Social Worker will work under the supervision of the Director of Leadership. The Social Worker will teach a curriculum that that promotes social and emotional skills development through activities relating to social justice, multi-cultural reflective practices, and cultural responsive learning.

Duties:
Conduct classes for groups of 15-25 girls at a time, that promote social and emotional skills development based on FSH’s curriculum
Assess student’s needs and develop strategies/plan to help students meet their goals
Help students by offering short-term individual counseling and referrals as needed
Keep up to date on trends in social and emotional development and update FSH curriculum with the guidance of the Director of Leadership
Collaborate and help FSH team respond to crisis situations
Support students and staff during various agency functions
Report to the Director of Leadership on a weekly basis about students who require additional social and emotional support from FSH

Qualifications:
MSW required
Experience working with families and other community programs.
Ability to work efficiently in an interdisciplinary team
Demonstrated ability to be professional, creative, innovative, and flexible
Attention to detail, superb organization skills
Ability to commit to working throughout the season (October – April)
Proficient in conversational Spanish, preferred

 

Days: Monday –Friday 4:30-6:30pm
Hourly rate: Based on Experience
