Dennis Norris II is a graduate of Haverford College and holds an MFA in creative writing from Sarah Lawrence College. They joined Figure Skating in Harlem in 2015 after two years as a curriculum coordinator for the Writing Corps team at the Harlem Children’s Zone. Dennis is a strong believer in the power of education, reading and writing, critical thinking, and self-care in a person’s quest to lead a self-determined life. A former competitive figure skater, they bring their enthusiasm for the sport to everything they do. Their writing has been supported by Tin House, Kimbilio Fiction, and The MacDowell Colony, and their short stories have garnered nominations for the 2017 Pushcart Prize and named finalist for the 2018 Best Small Fictions Prize. They currently serve as Fiction Editor at Apogee Journal, Assistant Fiction Editor at The Rumpus, and co-host of the popular podcast Food 4 Thot. They are currently at work on their debut novel.
