Assistant Skating Director

Allison Johnston is a gold-level skater who comes to Figure Skating in Harlem with 15 years of coaching experience on and off the ice. With nearly a decade of providing direct care to children with developmental disabilities in home, school, and hospital settings, experience as a yoga teacher, and love for all things creative performance, she takes a holistic and collaborative approach to teaching skating where she most enjoys teaching choreography and jump technique.
In addition to skating, Allison holds a B.S. and a Masters degree in Leadership and Organizational Studies from the University of Southern Maine. She collaborates with organizations such as CTZNWELL, bridging the values of wellbeing and justice with political action; and Off the Mat, Into the World, connecting yoga and leadership development with community action. Largely influenced by her upbringing in a diverse family in southern Maine, Allison has a love for bringing people together through music, dance, and celebration. She’s been able to travel to places such as South Africa and Singapore to learn alongside leaders in multicultural and creative development. She incorporates this learning and work in her own budding skating project at

FSH’s programs work with hundreds of girls annually on the ice and in the classroom. Our staff has grown from 3 to more than 75 coaches, teachers, tutors and counselors.
