Jazz Reed
Biography
Jazz (Jasmine) Reed is a fourth-generation Harlemite, a graduate of NYU Stern, and a dedicated community organizer and creative director. Committed to raising awareness about the need for culturally relevant mental wellness programming, resources, and facilities, Jazz founded MoHo Dance while completing her Bachelor’s degree. MoHo Dance teaches culturally relevant mental wellness through movement and the creative arts. Since its inception in 2019, Jazz has led over 60 workshops at various venues, including community centers, dance studios, corporate offices, city council offices, and youth groups.
After graduating from NYU Stern, Jazz spent two years working with the City Council office of Harlem District 9, furthering her commitment to community advocacy. Currently, she serves as the development and communications manager for Figure Skating in Harlem, where she continues her mission to empower and uplift her community.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Jazz is trained in modern and liturgical dance, attending dance and lyra (aerial hoop) classes weekly. She is also a self-trained flow artist and creative director with a home studio. She currently volunteers at the Salvation Army Harlem Temple’s afterschool program, teaching the youth dance. In 2023, Jazz was honored with the “Greater Good Award” from her high school, Lawrence Academy, in recognition of her dedication not only to achieving financial success but also to making a positive difference in her community. She was a recipient of Crain New York Business, “20 in their 20’s” highlighting young professionals breaking ground in the business world of NYC.
